Yuko Ogasawara

1976 - 2006


Yuko Ogasawara, a Japanese national, was killed in a two car auto accident on interstate highway 94 in downtown Detroit on Friday, November 24, 2006.

Born on October 9, 1976 in Fukui-shi, Japan, Ogasawara majored in English Communications at the Kanagawa Gaigo Tandai (Kanagawa prefectural College of Foreign Studies) which was closed in 2011. Yuko started her professional career in 1998 with Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industries, Co., Ltd. (IHI) and for which she would hold different positions at different times in her life. In Tokyo, Ogasawara was first a sales representative and then, in 2001, worked for one year in administration.

After several vacations in America, Yuko attended Santa Ana and Santa Monica Community Colleges, majoring in Fashion Merchandising (a long time dream) receiving an A.A. degree in 2003. She was a wardrobe assistant for music videos, short films and TV commercials.

Returning to Fukui, Ogasawara became a sales representative for the fabric maker, Seiren Co., Ltd. and for which she traveled to Paris.

Missing America, Yuko found a new job with IHI Press Technology America, Inc. then in Troy, Michigan. She handled sales and administration for their metal press division for the car industry.

Yuko was cremated in Fukui and is survived by her father, Takemi, mother, Ikuyo and younger brother, Takayuki.

A great lover of fishing, camping, kayaking, Yuko had recently taken up golf and was the proud owner of a teacup chihuahua she named Hinata.
